Alchemy has been the first form of chemical science.

• The first alchemists were Arabian, but after the year 1000 this practice spread all over Europe too.
• Alchemists didn' t live a good life because their magic beliefs, such as the research of philosophers' stone able to change poor material into gold.
• Among the most famous opponents were Pope John XXII who sent them into exile, King Henry IV of England and the High council of Venice who prohibited the practite of alchemy respectively in 1404 and 1418.
• Some esperiments made by alchimists brought to discover important chemical properties.
