Characteristics

Giant limpet is a shell bivalve round, with radial ribs. It is very large, reaching 8 cm in length.

Geographic distribution and influence of man

Once abundant in the Occidental Mediterranean, especially along the northern Tunisian rocky shores, this limpet remains today only on some islands, where it is threatened by the pollution.
