Tawny owl is distributed in North America, Scandinavia, Ural, Siberia.

Description

The length is 63-66 cm, wings are 41-48 cm. Weights 700-1200 gr. Females are bigger than males. Coloring is very varied, with many drawings. Belly is white and grey-white, beak is yellow

Behaviour

Can live in one place or wander. Wanderings are connected with bad food conditions. Tawny one uses old nests of other birds. Sometimes builds own though. The nests are on tops of broken trees high from the ground. The number of eggs in laying is 3-5. When there is not enough food, they don’t breed at all. The nestlings begin to fly at the age of 35 days and remain with parents the while autumn. Tawny owl eats little mammals and birds. It hunts at the daytime.
